This notice is posted in compliance with the Open Meetings Act, Public Act 267 of 1976, as amended, MCL 41.72a(2) and (4), and the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Village of Fairgrove Council Regular Meeting

05/04/2020 @ 6:30 pm Via Uber Conference

In Attendance: Childs/ Phelps/ McIntosh/ Stevens/ Young

 

  • Welcome remarks led by Childs
  • Motion by Young to Approve the Agenda 05/04/2020 2nd by Stevens Motion carried 5/0
  • Motion by Stevens to Approve Meeting Minutes from 04/14/2020 2nd by McIntosh Motion carried 5/0
  • Audience Recognition:
    • Ms. Stevens would like to thank the McIntosh family for weeding the Memorial Park it looks great!
  • Department Committee Reports
    • Fire Department- Young
    • Report Provided  
      • 6 Calls
        • DNR No burn caused some issues with some of the fire calls
      • Fire Department has been doing the drive by’s for a few birthday parties of neighborhood children
        • Following social distancing
        •  Heath Department cleaning protocol followed
        • FDIC conference may be rescheduled until September if not April 2021
        • Homeland Security Rescheduled for July

  • Old Park discussion on future plans- Childs: Post down in driveway to block it up so no more driving on the grass/ crushed stone to create a parking area/ water issues making it hard to mow and mosquitoes tile with our workers and back hoe surface drain/ trails with wood chips to make a walk way and planting of trees for a nature walk/ McIntosh: use the ground asphalt from McLuney Street  to save costs/ Childs: would like to start using the hill to start sledding again/ Phelps: sounds good / Possibly have Cathy Childs write some grants for the development

    • No report
    • Mother’s Day Breakfast and Basket Fund Raiser is cancelled
  • Bean Festival Committee-
    • Meeting about the Bean Festival Building
      • 5-year lease with signing the year before it expires
      •  Lease to include:
        • Someone from Festival present when Village goes into building
        • Village cost for the building for one year
        • Fest responsible for water turn on and turn off
        • Fest to pay for lawn mowing the week before and the week after Festival
        • Liability insurance cost
        • Locks changed and festival only to have the copies
        • Zoning questions for the building

        • Cost for DPW day of parade
        • In Lease special notation to use grounds for any special events need to go before Council

    • Bills that need approval presented- Police Protection provided by Akron- $12,250.00 Motion by McIntosh to pay Police Protection provided 2nd by Phelps: Roll call: Yes- Young/ Stevens/ McIntosh/ Phelps/ Childs Motion carried 5/0
    • The State provided a Roads Estimate for the Reduction in 2020 of approximately $10,000 less

    • Resolution 2020-001 A request for funding through MDOT on the McLuney Street project Motion by Young to allow Clerk- Smith to pursue the funding 2nd by McIntosh roll call vote: Yes: Young/ Stevens/ McIntosh/ Phelps/ Childs Motion adopted in Resolution 2020-001
    • Survey that the Planning put together for the Village was compiled and results present to Council
  • Correspondence
    • PM Environmental notified the Village of Fairgrove Oil & Gas is being cleaned up for leaks and the State will be over seeing this clean up
